I am proud to see we are having “smooth sailing” this year at the Charleston Yacht Club. We are strong financially, our membership continues to grow; however, we will always strive to be a better Club for our Membership. The entire Executive Committee is open to any suggestions you may have that would improve your member experience.
Our first donated sailboat has arrived. A sweet J/24 courtesy of Past Commodore Crisp McDonald, with some help from our Treasurer Chip Till. Thank you Crisp! We will be working out the procedures to get “you the member” using this vessel as a member benefit soon. Past Commodore Jacques has successfully resurrected the Charleston Yacht Club Junior Sailing 501c3 Corporation. This allows you to make contributions to Junior Sailing and receive a tax deduction on April 15th! You will be hearing more about joining this organization soon. We need your support for Junior Sailing.
House Committee Chair Russell Smith had an informational meeting for our new deck that was well attended. We are glad to say the deck starts construction on September 5th. Past House Committee Chair Van Kinnett has agreed to be the project manager and will be instrumental in helping us keep costs at a minimum. I hope all membership gives Van a pat on the back, but even more importantly – will lend him a hand if he needs help.
Also, kudos to Gavin Broadus for repairing our bar stools. Gavin has helped us in so many ways over the years. We cannot thank him enough.
The Eclipse is over! We had a great turnout at our Club party and everyone had a great time. We hope all Membe’s will continue to support YOUR club.
I hope to see each and every one of you at the Club. Until then…safe travels and thanks for listening,
