NOTICE OF SERIES
1. Rules
1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
2. Eligibility and Fees:
2.1. Open to any One-Design Class (19’ or more) with (3) committed boats
2.2. Entry fee is (1) crock-pot of chili or fixings or sides
3. Schedule:
3.1. WOCS 1 – Jan 26, 2020
WOCS 2 – Feb 2, 2020
WOCS 3 – Feb 9, 2020
WOCS 4 – Feb 23, 2020
WOCS 5 – Mar 8, 2020
3.2. First warning signal for all races is 1100 hrs
3.3. Up to (3) practice starts may be held at the beginning of each race day, prior to racing
3.4. Up to (4) races are scheduled each day for a total maximum of (20) races for the series
3.5. Target time for each race will be 30-40 minutes
4. Registration:
4.1. Show up at ChYC
5. Sailing Instructions and the Course:
5.1. Races will be started using RRS26
5.2. The course to be sailed will be windward/leeward with 4 legs
5.3. No offset mark at the weather mark will be used
5.4. The leeward gates will be the start/finish pin and the RC boat
5.5. Penalty system will be a single turn for any infraction anywhere on the race course
5.6. No protest hearings will be held after racing
6. Scoring:
6.1. Four races are required to be completed to constitute a series
6.2. When eight or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score.
7. Radio Communications:
7.1. All radio communications will be using VHF 69
8. Prizes (for each Class):
8.1. (1) bottle of Mt. Gay rum and an additional item to each overall daily winner
8.2. (1) series trophy to the top overall boat that competes in three or more days
9. Disclaimer of Liability:
9.1. Competitors participate in the series entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the series.
10. Media Rights:
10.1. Competitors give absolute right and permission to the Organizing Authority, J/24 Fleet 7, Charleston Yacht Club and any series sponsors to use, publish, broadcast or otherwise distribute for promotional, advertising or any other purpose, any images and sound recorded during the event of persons and boats free of any charge.
