ChYC offers Regular Membership (within 50 miles of Charleston), Associate Membership (greater than 50 miles from Charleston) and Active Military Membership, as well as Young Adult Membership (21 – 30 years of age) and Family Membership option for those wishing both spouses to have equal club privileges.
As a member, you can expand various boating, business, family, and personal opportunities.
ChYC offers a launch hoist, dry slips, day dockage, free parking, and a full calendar of events throughout the year. These activities include, but are not limited to: cruises, dinners, regattas, parties, pool tournaments, and much more. ChYC members receive a discount when renting ChYC facilities for personal parties.
You will also enjoy reciprocal privileges at other yacht clubs around the world.
How to Join
Annual dues are $1,100 for regular membership (within 50 miles of Charleston) or $550 for Associate Membership (greater than 50 miles from Charleston), Active Military, and Young Adults (21 – 30 years of age). The Charleston Yacht Club also offers a Family Membership option for those wishing both spouses to have equal club privileges.
There is a one-time initiation fee of $2,500 for Regular and Associate membership and $1,000 for Active Military and Young Adult memberships. Please note: an additional $500 assessment for the 2024 calendar year will be prorated quarterly.

Our Mission
The Membership Committee develops plans to recruit new members, evaluates and recommends persons nominated for membership, implements a thorough orientation for new members, and runs programs and events to help current members engage and stay involved with the club.
Who We Are
There are nearly 450 regular, associate, and young adult members of the Charleston Yacht Club (ChYC). These enthusiastic members enjoy sailing, yachting, and a variety of other water and social activities. Charleston Yacht Club is focused on sail and power boating, and is affiliated with U.S. Sailing and the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association (SAYRA).
When We Started
The Charleston Yacht Club was founded in 1934 to foster interest in water sports.
What We Do
- Regattas, sailing events, cruises, fishing tournaments
- Monthly membership informational dinner meetings
- New and prospective member meet and greet on the first Thursday of every month
- Weekday Casual Dining, Saturday Night Fine Dining, Friday lunches, Sunday brunch, and much more
- Holiday parties including: Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl, Halloween, and others
- Crab Crack and bi-annual Oyster Roasts
- Charleston Yacht Club hosts many Charleston Ocean Racing Association (CORA) events, providing an excellent venue for relating and socializing post-race
- Charleston Yacht Club supports Charleston Community Sailing and their summer sailing educational programs
- During winter months, billiards, bridge and other card or board games are played in the Charleston Yacht Club lounge, overlooking the City Marina
